Gosh no, I just have nothing to say on the matter. It is what it is. And yes, it's Andrew singing.

Are the lyrics in Italian? Spanish? Some made up language?
I can hear some Italian snippets here and there, but exactly like in proper opera, what is actually sung in a mistery.

I've gotta say, I find this track extremely unlistenable! I listen to the whole box set all day at work, when I get home and even when I sleep, but waking up or walking in to The Aria, brings me back to terrifying nightmares from when I was in a coma. I do really enjoy the rest thought. I think it may have been Rob Zombie who said "Art isn't safe". That may just be the case here, a little disturbing material to help appreciate the rest of this priceless masterpiece of a box set. Thank you again Mr. Chevron. Cheers and Slainte!

Just appreciate The Aria for what it is, I myself find it rather Tom Waits influenced.

My question of asking what it is about was intended as a question as what was it recorded for? was this intended to be put on a album? a single? soundtrack? A soundtrack is about all i can picture it being used for, it would have not been a great album track, maybe it would have been a funny cult item b-side though...

I would love to "appreciate it for what it is" but I don't know "what it is". That was my question. And I find any member of the Pogues (past or present) 10 times more talented than Mister Waits, regardless of their modesty. I highly doubt the influence and see no similarity to any of his work. But thats just my opinion and as far as I can tell, my vote is outnumbered. BUT! I would like to hear a definitive answer, for Mr. Cheveron himself (one of my heroes by the way), had the same response to another curious and disturbed enthusiast: "It is what it is". It is a work of art and there must be a reason for it existing in the first place, let alone hand selected for the boxed set. Thank you Lain for your feedback and I do respect your opinion as I hope you respect mine.
Sincerely, Jamison.

A single, yes, that's it. We wanted it to be the follow up to "Fairytale of New York" but alas, the record company thought otherwise and released "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" instead. Let history show they made the wrong call.

(sigh) I guess certain people don't feel a need to discus they're work, for whatever reason. Too bad, I'm sure there's something interesting regarding the history of this track, but I can tell when to stop flogging a dead horse... so I guess it is what it is... the most annoying track the band ever recorded. Probably one of the only Pogues or related tracks I wouldn't lose sleep over skipping or leaving off the ipod.
