Shane without them is not Pogues either.
If my example with head and body doesn't work let's try another one.

C2H5OH is ethyl alcohol, spirit which we all know and love (some of us).
But elements, which make that great compound, are absolutely different things on the their own: C-carbon, H2-hydrogen, O2-oxygen...
Take two of them and you will get usual water - H2O

Take one atom of carbon and two atoms of hydrogen away from ethyl alcohol and you get methyl alcohol - CH3OH - which can kill you...
It's chemistry...

And same thing with Pogues. They are Pogues together...

We are bigger than the sum of our parts.

Finer's P.O.V. on herb and mahone

Post Sun Jul 10, 2005 10:03 am

Finer makes no apologies for "Waiting for Herb" or 1995's "Pogue Mahone," which takes its title from the band's original moniker, a Gaelic expression that means "kiss my backside."

"Let's put it this way: If Shane had sung on them, they'd have been received very well," he says. "But a lot of people weren't prepared to listen to a Pogues record without Shane singing."

Live Cd

Has anyone else here noted that on the live album there is a wonderful heartfelt version of The Old Main Drag. Shane's vocal is fantastic on it. If I remember correctly Mr Chevron at one point mentioned how he was blown away by Shane's take on the song this particular night.

I noticed that as well. The entire performance, in fact. It's better than the studio version.
