Rocky Road to Belgrade - Pogues and Shane MacGowan in former

Post Sat Feb 07, 2004 4:03 pm

I opened mini website with info on Pogues LPs issued in Yugoslavia, bootleg Pogues/Shane CDs issued in Serbia and info with regard to Shane's gig in Serbia last July. I named the site "Rocky Road to Belgrade - Pogues and Shane MacGowan in former Yugoslavia and Serbia". Many scans and info so far unreleased on the web or elsewhere.

I may also open separate section for Russian and Bulgarian bootleg issues if there are interests among the fans.

Belgrader-
For a while I have been interested in the politics and music of Serbia especially the stuff coming out of B92. Has B92 been known to play some Pogues/Popes music? Whats your take on B92 are they a force in Serbian media or no longer important?

Hvala,
Nate

No, B92 doesn't have Pogues/Shane in the program. However, B92 Music Production promotional manager Dragan Ambrozic managed Shane's gig in Serbia. As far as I know Radio Belgrade is the only station which more often broadcasts Irish folk music, Pogues included.

RTV B92 is one of four major media in Serbia together with RTV Serbia, RTV Pink and TV BK. They all are very important.

i just found this one :)

since 1989 radio b92 had the pogues songs in the program almost constantly, way until mid-nineties, when the slight shift in the music direction of the station started. to my knowledge, only studio b (radio station on the budget of city hall of belgrade) played any songs by the pogues in belgrade before.

need more info on shane in serbia?

Lovely website!
