The shite one by Ronan Keating
The shite one by Damien Dempsey & Sinead O'Connor
Christy Moore's
The punky version by No Use For A Name
The piano-less version by Shane & The Popes
Live At The Brixton Academy
Original album version (IISFFGWG)
Or any other one?
For me, it's either the original, or the Brixton Academy one where you hear everyone singing along.

My favourite is the one on the town and country vid i think. the moment philip has spoken about where kirsty sings "well so could anyone" is glorious. but i love the iisffgwg version, and liked hearing cait singing it at brixton. Its just a fucking great song at the end of the day isnt it? as long as ronan keating doesnt get his hands on it, that is.

I'd like to hear Bruce Springsteen do it with Emmylou Harris adding in the female vocals.

The original one is the best to me. Followed by Christy and No Use For A Name.
Has anyone ever heard the German version by BAP & Nina Hagen ? It´s strange, of course (cos BAP sings in COlogne accent and Nina Hagen sings in Berlin accent), but not as bad as I had thought. It´s called "Weihnachtsnaach", and it takes place in Hamburg instead of New York.
Weihnachtsnaach
1)
fing leis zo singe ahn, e Leed uss Seemannsjahn,
dat mir bekannt vüürkohm, irjendwann schon ens jehoot.
3)
Du Versager ! Du Flittchen, du verloddert klei Nüttche !
Du erbärmlicher Schiffschaukelbremser, halts Maul !
Wat heiß he Kniesbüggel?.. du fussije Knüsel !!
Frohe Weihnacht, du Penner, du stinkje Wildsau.
Refr.:

Agree also. For me 'twas at Brixton. No disrespect to Ella, who does a magnificent job. But the live performance with Cait was magical, best non-Kirsty version I've seen.

Fr. McGreer's girls got to be up there! I only just saw that and it's wonderful - congrats to you on these two talents.
Besides that, the original beats even the Brixton ones for me (Ella is perfect I think) and that's saying a lot. Nobody has yet mentioned having actually been to see a live version with Kirsty, wish I had done that.
I nearly died when I heard the German one.

I was lucky enough too see one of the last, perhaps even the last? December 1997 at the Forum in London.
She was wonderful.
