Is Gridlock partly taken from some old jazz song?
I thought I heard a jazz song that reminded me a lot of Gridlock, although Gridlock is attributed to two of the Pogues.

I've always found Gridlock to be mostly influenced by old 1940s spy movies, it has a rather grand film noir style to it. However, I wish it wasn't the opening track for Peace and Love, I think White City would have been a better selection. I'm not saying it's a bad song, but it's one of my least favorite Pogues instrumental, but Metropolis is one of my favorite' so go figure. I think what separates the two is the fact that Metropolis is a straight jazz instrumental with a token Irish overlay, and overall I just think it sounds better.
