Anyone got the "Debut" magazine LP with Matilda on

Post Fri Oct 12, 2007 10:10 pm

Alright gang

Just saw this rather odd thing on Ebay whilst looking for Pogues-related bargains:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DEBUT-MAGAZINE-04-SKIFF-SKATS-POGUES-RARE_W0QQitemZ160166399646QQihZ006QQcategoryZ58631QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Does anyone have the LP that comes with it? I've never heard of it before...

Anyone know if it's worth having? I'm thinking of bidding on it (though I'm probably screwed now cos I've just pointed it out to a website full of Pogues fans, ho hum). Is it the regular RS&TL version of the song? Is it even on the record at all?

(Wouldn't want to buy it just to find it was a 30 second sample or something like that!!)

I've got it - -I think I found it in the cheap bin a few years back...

It is kinda neat - it's got a nice two page spread on the band with an early picture that I'm not sure I've seen anyplace else.

The LP itself does play, and if I remember right I think that it's the single version of Matilda, which might make sense given that this was released in 84 or so.

Anyway, it is pretty cool.

Do you have the possibility to scan the picture?

Mats -

I took a picture of it this morning - - although I'm unsure of how to upload it to my post...

If you like, send me a PM and I can email it to you.

Cheers

Debut lasted for about 6 issues or so then folded. Perhaps it was not the best time to promote a glossy magazine with a free 10" LP every issue whwn the humble CD was becoming the ever more popular medium of choice. I think it's the "b" side version of "Matilda".

It finished before I decided whether or not to buy it (plus, I forgot...)

It didn't sell. If it comes up again I'll bid on it I think. Hopefully the seller might repost it (or I might even ask them to do so if it doesn't pop up soon).

Interesting curio, anyway.

This one is quite hard to find actually.. especially if the magazine is in good condition. I paid about 18 quid a few years ago for mine..

Phil, those cds are pesky.. my wife keeps going on how I should switch over from vinyl.. I keep telling her that she will learn one day.. :D long live the 7"!!
