Thanks again McMullen.
Does anyone have any tip about what kind of USED 5 string banjo to buy? Not for bluegrass but folk.
Are the old japanese brands like Iida and Aria usable?
I can spend like 200 euros at max so perhaps an oldie but goldie would be the most usable for me :)

I only find new banjos at those sites. I was thinking of fetching one from ebay. The sites helped me with strings and such for my tenor banjo though. :)
And yeah.. want to play arpeggios on it.. Don't know about plectrum banjo because I dont like longer scales.

banjo tab

Post Sat Dec 24, 2005 6:34 pm

I would like the banjo tab for fairytale. There are guitar chords and tab around but so far I cannot find any banjo. Maybe Jem would put it on his website. Untill then if any clever person can put it together I would be grateful. jimbob :)

Jem does not play tenor banjo on fairytale! If you want to do it right, take a five string banjo and just play the chords using typical 5-string banjo rolls!

Pogues banjo information

Post Tue Sep 12, 2006 11:42 am

I'm a big Pogues fan. I'm particularly fond of their use of the banjo.
Does anybody know who does most of the banjo playing on their albums?
I'm thinking specifically of the banjo sound on "And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda."

Anybody know who played banjo on this cut? Anybody know what kind of banjo was used: Tenor or 5 string? Tubaphone?

Thanks for your help.

Um.. at a pinch... I'd suggest that it may be...'Country' Jem Finer.... their banjo player.
Five-string banjo, from what I know (which isn't much)

What he said.

I know Shane plays on Johnny Come Lately in the studio footage from Completely Pogued and on Live at T&C. Apparently (according to Shane :P ) it pissed Jem off big time when Shane started playing tenor banjo? Is that true? From what I've read on liner notes, Phil also played banjo in the studio.
