firehazard wrote:So is the actual anniversary today (2nd Oct), or is it 4th Oct? Both dates have been mentioned here and elsewhere. Perhaps there's the need of an Archbishop Ussher to sort it out.

Anyway, it deserves a celebration that lasts for more than just the one date. :)

Might as well make a whole week out of it. :D :D :D

Yeah, just like St Patrick´s week in ´88 when The Pogues played for a whole week in London.

Happy 25th to The Pogues.

I'm drinking a bottle of wine tonight in your honour (and also because I can because I'm on holiday).

See? Gone far too long. How can I be expected to remember these things?

Thank you, Mr. Roboto.

You say that as if you were there? I didn't see you!!!

Maybe that gig will be like the GPO in Dublin, everyone's grand father was in there during the rising.

Hurpy Buffday Pogues!

I knew I was having more than I should for a reason. Thank you Pogues for that reason. And so much more.

Well to paraphrase ABBA, thank you Philip, Spider and James (and all the rest of you guys who don't read the fora) for the music. It's been inspirational, comforting, provoking, beautiful, galvanising and emotional and I'm glad I 'discovered' you guys when I did and I'm glad you all decided you'd like to play live shows together again.

Here's to another 25 years. I know that a few of ye don't take the sup any more but I'm raising a glass of red wine to your good health tonight, may it last almost as long as the music (edit: your health that is, not the wine).
