I can't say that for sure and I know it's not yet been set, but I do know Warners and ourselves are trying to keep the price quite low. Warner Music's 4-CD box by The Faces retails at just under £40 before discounting, but I think we're aiming to do ours for considerably less than that.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I assume that the box set will be readily available stateside, especially, fingers crossed, in Virginia. I read that Rhino records is releasing it over in the states, and their products are always available.

Iain

I have to confess I've been so busy just getting the box set DONE that I haven't stopped to check where or when it will be released outside of my immediate islands, sorry. If you have any more info yourself, please post it.

Since you can order it from amazon.co.uk ( for example ) it will be available worldwide.

Nothing yet on the "Upcoming Releases" section of the Rhino website, but they're only going as far forward as January 29th...

Five CDs... 100-odd tracks. My word.

I think I've got a bit of a stiffy actually.

Continuing on the list of "Are they on there?" questions...the songs off the straight to hell and sid&nancy soundtracks...I'm looking at buying each on ebay, but I'm really only after the pogues tunes on there, so if they're on the boxset, I'll just hold off until march.

None of the Straight To Hell music is on the box, with the possible exception of "The Good The Bad And The Ugly" which was not in the movie but was recorded for the original Soundtrack album. Big Beat's Straight To Hell Returns CD, put together by myself, Alex Cox and Pray For Rain's Dan Wool in 2004, is the definitive album for the movie and contains 12 or 13 Pogues tracks, the majority of them unreleased until then.

I'm pretty sure the music from Sid and Nancy will be on the box set. So look forward to Haunted, Hot Dogs With Everything, The Junk Theme, Glued Up and Speeding, 'A Paris, A Needle For Paddy Garcia, etc.

I´ve always liked Zander Schloss` funnylittle song "Salsa y ketchup" from the "Straight to hell" movie and soundtrack, too.

But to me the highlight is the "country version" of "If I should fall". I wonder when and why it was decided to re-record this song for the next album, and to actually name the album after it.

The song got better (and faster) in performance over the following year, which seemed to merit another shot. Think of it as our "Wild Horses" or, indeed, our "Country Honk".

I´ve loved "Country honk" from the first time I heard it. But I never knew there were different versions of Wild horses" - I just know the "Sticky fingers" version.

Yes, I should withdraw that comparison. Not everyone will have heard the bootleg version by Parsons and Keef which preceded the Stones version.

You´re probably right. At least I´ve never heard of this version you´ve mentioned.

I might be jumping the gun a bit, but are we looking at a US "for sale" or "pre-sale" date yet? I know March 17th is the target, but I'm not exactly sure what and where that's targeting.

I don't mind not having it before the Roseland shows, but I'd love to drop that bomb on my sister-in-law when we get there for the Orpheum.

It is this kind of open, honest and informal extra-curicular activity that make Meduda such a wonderful place to punctuate your day with.
