Damn straight. I've made a throne of them.
Incidentally, did you ever see this?

Oh, yes I did see that. Thanks for taking it and putting it up! I am not using it as my avatar currently because I think it is just entirely too funny-looking. Oh my god I didn't realize my face looked like that.

Only when yelling for the show to start, I'm certain.

The only place I would feel even slightly confident of getting a copy in New York would be Virgin Times Square, who appear to routinely stock major imports.

Mr. Chevron, thank you very much for your advice on buying the box set from Virgin Times Square. I had visited them two days ago, but unfortunately, nobody in the store could locate the one copy that their computer insisted was in stock. I then trekked to untold record stores in midtown and the village, none of whom had it yet. After reading your post yesterday, I was able to find someone on the phone at Virgin who was able to locate the one copy; I stupidly did not ask him where he found it, as it seems like the Pogues are classified in so many different ways.
At any rate, I am very much enjoying the first CD as we type! I and all your fans greatly appreciate your music and your incredible contributions to this website.

Make that 41.
Just received from amazon.com. Packaging looks great. Going to obsess a little before I delve into the box of delights.
Just a quick note to thank Mr Chevron for all your efforts. I haven't bought a Pogues album in 15 years but I am as excited about this as I was standing outside Queen's Student's Union Belfast in 1987. Well, nearly as excited.

Guess today is the fourteenth of July… Box set just arrived from amazon.ca

...this is going to really mess up my work schedule; I just ripped it into my ITunes. I now have a combined 12.6 hours,230 songs and 692.8m of Pogues music

I haven't really had time to look through everything but will take the box set into the car(via my humble 1g nano). Box looks good, very good. I like the picture of Cait handing Spider the smoke...was it originally ripped? If so it just fits in so well with the whole concept. Thanks for the time you put in Mr. C. and all the others, I really look forward to spending more of my time going over your hard work.
Peter.

This getting rather annoying!!! Amazon.com had me down as ordering two copies of the box set through caiman.com, I emailed caiman.com, about the other box set order, and then they went and cancelled my box set that was already in transit, I extremely pissed off!!!!! Now the order doesn't appear in the database!!!! I just ordered through amazon.com, they had three copies left, I ordered one-day shipping so hopefully it arrives tomorrow, Monday the latest. This is getting to be a very frustrating experience.

Hi Phil,
Why are the "swear" words removed on Donegal Express?
Thanks,
Kevin

Um, they're not. That's how we recorded it.

I'm a bit confused about this one - I've got the "21 Years Of Independent Radio" compilation from way back when and it is supposed to be the 12/12/84 Peel session version but it different from the one on the box set. For starters the older version is 2.43 and the box set version is 2.53, and the older version has a long drum intro. Can anyone clarify?
Yes, I spent an entire day trying to resolve this. The version on the box set is
not the same recording as was heard on
21 Years of Alternative Radio One or whatever it was called. That was a simple enough choice - release the version that had not previously been issued, as there wasn't much to choose between them in terms of performance. But it's true that some of the info the BBC sent me with their recordings was, at best, incomplete (which is why no producers or engineers are credited - we asked the BBC constantly for months to supply them, with no result) and, at worst, inaccurate.
Thanks for this! I've had a look in my "Peel Sessions" book (Ken Garner), which is generally thought of as definitive and a labour of love. It has the following on the 2 Pogues sessions:
1st: 17/4/84 (1st broadcast) - streams of whiskey, Greenland, county hell, auld triangle. Recorded 10/4/84 at Maida Vale 5. Producer Mark Radcliffe, engineer Ted de Bono.
2nd: 12/12/84 - whiskey you're the devil, navigator, Sally, Danny Boy. Recorded 4/12/84 at Maida Vale 5. Producer Mark Radcliffe, engineer Mike Robinson.
