Hi,
I'm just wondering will the box set contain the 'live' b-sides and the 'single' versions/edits not included on the 7 remasters?
What we really want is everything ever recorded on the box set (apart from the stuff on the remasters).
Is the release date still set for 17-03-08. I hope so it's my birthday :)
Cheers, Neil

All six of the Steve Lillywhite-produced live tracks from Barrowlands 1987 which we used as b sides and extra tracks on CD singles are on the Box Set, yes, including "Kitty", which was previously only on the "Sound Waves" free EP. The 7" mix of "Fiesta", the 12" mixes of "Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah" and "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" have also made it, as has the "radio-friendly" version of "Boys From The County Hell" (featuring the landlord who "was a miserable skinflint, an affliction and a sore"). The dub version of "Young Ned Of The Hill" also made it. All three tracks from the "Haunted" 12" made the cut as well as the other soundtrack recordings from SID AND NANCY (previously unreleased on record) and a couple of tracks which were rejected from the movie.

So, not all the previously-released tracks you might have wished for, but a sizeable number of them. We had to make economies in order to accomodate the 80 plus previously unreleased tracks which we felt took priority. The official release date is still March 17 and is likely to remain so because of its cultural significance [it's Neil's birthday, you know], though I am given to understand that, because we screwed up various deadlines, it may not actually reach shops for a week or so after that.

On the subject of live tracks and in response to someone's earlier question, the 4 tracks we had to leave off the Brixton Academy 2001 reunion live album for reasons of space have also made it to the Box Set.

5 Cds. The total number of tracks changes slightly, even at this late stage, but it's certainly over 100.

Can't wait!!!

If you don't mind me asking again then: What about compilation tracks like Got A Lot O' Livin' To Do, Miss Otis Regrets/Just One Of Those Things, In & Out, etc.; or the live recordings with Joe Strummer from the Tues. Morning singles; have these been cut from the list of possible inclusions?

Thanks for the update, Phillip.

I can't say that for sure and I know it's not yet been set, but I do know Warners and ourselves are trying to keep the price quite low. Warner Music's 4-CD box by The Faces retails at just under £40 before discounting, but I think we're aiming to do ours for considerably less than that.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I assume that the box set will be readily available stateside, especially, fingers crossed, in Virginia. I read that Rhino records is releasing it over in the states, and their products are always available.
