If you find the box set for $29.99 somewhere, buy it! Your listing raft will survive. If you feel really guilty about it, you can always PayPal a couple of shekels toward her upkeep.

What would that PayPal account address be?

http://www.music-wow.com has it for 29,99 Pounds (they'd charge your paypal account for 38,94€...I ordered from them a disc a few weeks ago. It arrived safe and sound within a couple of days from Hong-Kong...but I'm not sure whether I should buy the Box from them.

Ps. there are samples of all songs on amazon.de!!

I'm really sorry I didn't realize that :( I know this site keeps everyone up to date on all things Pogues related. I only find out about the Tower price this afternoon. I went back to the site later and they changed it to the price $76.99 (which it had been priced earlier). I was very tempted to order through amazon UK but with the US dollar taking a beating (nearly 2 dollars for 1 pound) I had to find the best possible US price. Amazon still have it priced at $60.98 which isn't bad but I think the Canadian price is good also but haven't order from amazon.ca before.

Well, to save myself more than 10 bucks (the amount of Medusa's cut of the sale was an innocent bystander), I re-cancelled the amazon.uk order and then went to USA Amazon.

By the way, DzM, any liberal qualms about encouraging folks to go to a massive e-business website? 8)

Nope. I'm like Robin Hood. You're helping steal the profits of the wealthy. I just haven't got around to that redistribution stuff yet.

Shane MacGowan plans in-store signing for Pogues box-set
29 May 2008
Hotpress

Full URL

The Pogues release a 5-CD box-set tomorrow, May 30, with Shane MacGowan and Philip Chevron appearing in HMV on Saturday (31) for an album signing.

Friday May 30 is a red-letter day for Pogues fans as their 5-CD Just Look Them In The Eye And Say… Pogue Mahone box-set (pictured) hits the racks.

To celebrate Shane MacGowan and Philip Chevron are signing copies at 5.30pm on Saturday in HMV Grafton Street.

Getting in is free, but you’ll need to be in possession of one of the wristbands, which will be available earlier in the day from the D2 music emporium.

It’s a cracking collection with the Joe Strummer-assisted live versions of ‘London Calling’ and ‘I Fought The Law’, the previously unreleased take on ‘The Rocky Road To Dublin’ and the oboe version of ‘Rainy Night In Soho’ among our early faves.

iTunes is, as far as I know, geography limited (meaning iTunes Ireland won't sell to US buyers, and vice-versa).

I have my hands on the Box Set - excellently packaged, listening to it as I write, Rocky Road To Dublin.

It's a great day, and going to be an even better Bank Holiday weekend now!

This is because, right up to this week, sleepy old Amazon still believed the release date to be last Monday in May. By their lights, it is now "late".

I suppose I should have been in a position to predict the Irish release date would be earlier than the UK. Records are released on Mondays in the UK, Fridays in Ireland. Whenever possible, Ireland releases them the Friday PRIOR to the UK, not the NEXT Friday. This is also a long [Bank Holiday] weekend in Ireland, an opportunity Warners Ireland will not have wanted to miss. I have to say Warners Ireland have impressed me enormously so far in their handling of the Box.

Plus, at B&N, if you are a first-time customer (or if you can convince their computers that you are), you can use coupon code A8P8N9P for 25% off. I'm getting mine for $39, tax included (and shipping is free, although it doesn't ship until June 17).
