Amazon.uk said it wouldn't be here until after the weekend - but it actually was only 4 days delivery time. I can't mail a letter across town any faster.
I've called family, sent taunting txt messages, paraded it throughout the neighborhood to show it off, and now I'm home alone with this marvelous compilation.
What an absolute delight! I feel like an eight year old at Christmas.
Philip, Spider, Darryl, James - and everyone involved - THANK YOU for this!
The joyous energy in the demo version of 'Dark Streets of London' is bouncing off the walls as I type - the cat looks worried...and the sun just came out for the first time in a week!
The drums on the BBC recording of 'Boys from The County Hell' are relentless - in the best way!
I hope to become more coherent after the next week or so of nonstop listening.
congrats and thanks again!

Phil C it mentions in the notes that Japan was only ever played live there. Shoot me down if I am wrong but I swear I was at the NEC circa 88 when it was played there.....am I mistaken????

Crap ,I am starting to regret switching my order to amazone.ca. Did you get hit with customs/duty/or tax fees?

Between listening on the headphones while reading the notes and looking at all those wonderful pictures of little moments frozen in time I was getting a tad misty. And to think so much of this was lying around in some tape vault all this time, or was considered the stuff not good enough to put on the regular release. It's hard to wrap my mind around that.
It's a beautiful work of art all around. Many many thanks to everyone.
Oh and I loved the hand-written notes on Page 36. Hilarious insight into the mind of the band. Mr. C., if you know what year that was from can you post? Had to be pretty early, right? Everyone must read those carefully if you haven't yet.
eddiespeed wrote:Phil C, thanks for ther reply re Japan...one last queery re the track 'The Good The Bad & The Ugly'. Was this ever pressed? I recall at the time waiting for its release which never came but was wondering if any pressings of the same are out there in the world?

38.98 pounds + 3.08 shipping = total 42.06 GBP = 84.73 CDN $

I'm listening to the end of disc 5, and I absolutely love it. I'd figured I'd already owned at least a third of the tracks (which is approximately correct) but hadn't figured on how totally obsolete my copies are now, at least as far as listening value goes. Which is, of course, one of the values of the box set as well as, probably, the entire point.![]()
Philip, I know this was an exhausting undertaking for you, and it would have been under normal circumstances... (who else to take on this kind of project, really?) and, I suppose, it's a bit early to ask, but -- well, could we cull a couple more compilations, and remaster a few of the good old concert boots?
I have a couple of favorite concert copies, and was wondering what it would cost to remaster them (or whatever it is someone does to the old concert boots to make them 'presentable')? Just out of curiosity. Seriously.
