Re: WARNERS/RHINO POGUES BOX SET DUE June, 2008

We have just arrived home from six days in Dublin and in our absence our son received a phone call to say that the boxed set I have had on order for several months has arrived at our local record shop. I wish we were still in Dublin and able to attend the signing so if there is another opportunity eg in London that would be great. I wonder if there would be any chance of getting it signed at the next gig we attend? (usually Brixton).

I clicked the link on the front page of Medusa for the Irish ITunes store, to see if I had access. My ITunes asked if I would like to change stores, I agreed and found myself looking at the track listing for the box set. (I thought it was funny that all the songs on the box set are listed as EXPLICIT. Yes, even the instrumentals ). I was really starting to believe that you maybe able to actually shop in different regions, I was finding a lot of things that are not available on my regular ITunes and did seem to have full access. However when I did try to purchase a song from an album and Band that I knew was not available on the Canadian site. It sent me back to Itunes.ca where I was unable to finish up my purchase...Stupid that they separate it like that...

I should start paying attention...

Phil, what about a signing session for those of us outside Eire? Are there any plans for any promotional work in the Big Smoke in connection with the release? i.e. any special shows, tv appearances etc?
The Fall played at the offices of Bloomberg - the U.S. financial news company - in London this week. I know this hasn't really got anything to do with the Pogues but the sight of Mark E Smith playing in front of a canape-snacking, wine-sipping crowd was certainly a sight to behold. best jack.

I got an E-Mail yesterday from Amazon to say that the box set was now delayed (yet again) and estimated delivery is now 9th - 14th June 2008.

It'll probably arrive on my birthday (as it happens to fall between those dates) and I probably won't be in to receive it.

Thank you Pogues, the boxed set is all that I had hoped for and so much more...didn't know how to choose which cd to play first from the delightfully packed set! The book with all the information about the set is superb (thank you Mr C for that, I know it took a lot of your time to research all the details). Would have loved to have been in the queue in Dublin today to get it signed. You are, and always will be, the very best band ever.

Nice one. Thanks for the code. It worked well. Your an outstanding individual.

The boxset has been playing on my iTunes for nearly 24 hours straight now - amazing stuff. Something like the demo of Haunted brings me back 22 years to when I bought the 12" single - and as all the Pogues explained at the time the overproduced MCA version doesn't do the song justice.

And that's just one example - a pleasant surprise with every couple of tracks. As all the rock critics might say it is a Tour de Force.

Well done Pogues, one and all, for reminding us all (not that it was needed) what a supremely talented bunch of individuals you are (and that includes Cait, Kirsty, the mighty Joe Strummer, the Dubliners and Steve Earle). And special thanks to Mr. C for spending so much time compiling it.

I went into Borders books yesterday, they told me the box set will be available through them on 24 June 08. If I order it then, they told me I will have within a week. Fingers crossed!!!!

Has anybody ever done business with 7digital.com? I saw they have the set up for download starting tomorrow (June 2) for £7.99 and wondered if they were reputable and are legally selling it or not. I already ordered the box set from amazon(US) but the long wait is going to drive me mad.
