Box set

Really? That's pretty cool. I thought Uncut had gone down the pan (quality-wise) a couple of years ago but perhaps they retain a modicum of good taste after all!

I just had a thought actually. This is aimed at Phil if that's OK!

i just read one of your responses on another thread and I suddenly thought, "what is the most recent piece of music on the new box set"? Is there anything sneaking in which might be "newly" recorded? (Indeed, would you tell us if there was?) (I doubt it)

My guess is that I am unfortunately to be disappointed though if pressed I would say the latest stuff on the boxset WOULD be LATER than the Pogue Mahone demoes/sessions...

(We'll see...!!)

Any chance this boxset will be available for purchase through download at some service like itunes or something? That way i can have it the instant it comes out and put it in my ipod! (since idon't really care about cds anymore... i know i'm helping kill the record insutry.)

Also, any chance we'll get a preview of the tracklisting for it anytime soon? even a preliminary one would be sweet.

thanks

The only recordings which are later than the Pogue Mahone album are the remaining tracks from the 2001 live album, not used on that for reasons of space.

I think it's very likely to be available in download yes, though I confess I have zero interest, personally, in contemporary modes of distribution. Me, I like the artefact. I cannot divulge the complete tracklisting until all copyrights and licenses have been cleared.

Oh yes, me too. My house is full of artefacts, and the more the better. Personally I wouldn't want to do without them. And it's also a defence against someone "accidentally" wiping your iTunes...

The more I hear about this box set, the more excited I get.

I third the artefact thing - how can you download a "box" set anyway? Hmm...

As for the tracklisting, d'you know personally I wouldn't want to know the FULL tracklisting (though one or two that we already know are quite appetising for now) as it'll spoil the surprises...

Actually I like both. I buy from iTunes and I get CD's. I'm sure iTunes will make the box set available in good time. Used to love vinyl but the records warped and the needle thingies became hard to replace. Listening to music with earphones while I'm at the computer, rather than blasting music from the CD player which resides on a different floor is necessary for life in a crowded city. The neighbours don't necessarily share my taste in music, can't imagine why.

Can't wait for the box set!!!

Just curious Mr. C - -> will there be any interviews included on the Box that have taken place over the years??
I know that there's an early one of Jem and Shane on the radio in Boston in '86, and probably loads of others from bootlegs etc that are around...

Thanks in advance!

No, JD.

There is no copyright in the speaking voice element of interviews. Anyone who felt like it could put together a box set of Pogues interviews and release it, assuming they had the source materials. My guess is it would not be a big seller, however!

Talking of radio interviews, it would be great to hear the famous BP Fallon interview with The Pogues broadcast on RTE radio in September 1985. (The one involving Noel Hill et al). If anyone knows how to get access to this, I'd be very grateful for any leads.

All best,
Sean.

Is their a booklet in the works for the box set with an essay or two, rare photos or any other types of 2D jewels?

I've bought every Pogues album I could find here in Canada, and added new followers to Pogues music as a result. Any time ine on the release in Canada? How many tracks? Bring on the boxed set!
