Hell's Ditch questions

Post Wed Jun 20, 2007 4:35 pm

This is for Mr. Chevron or anyone else who knows.

Peace and Love had songs written and sung by many different members of the Pogues but then Hell's Ditch had mostly songs written and sung by Shane. Is there a particular reason for that? They are both great records.

This is my first posting, and thanks to Mr. Chevron for writing Thousands Are Sailing. It means a lot to those of us who are immigrants or whose parents were immigrants.

I think it's fair to say that Shane had written more songs in advance of Hell's Ditch than he had done prior to Peace And Love. Glad you like the Sailors' Song and welcome to Medusa.

After the turbulent Peace and Love period Shane took a much needed holiday in Thailand, which might help explain his much prolific return to form as a songwriter.

i'm here listening to the last few tracks of hells ditch.there is a real feeling of finality about the last few tracks 10-13 which shows the bands demise and points to the breakup.these few tracks always make me sad and i long so much for a new album.will it ever happen?

I kind of get that feeling when I hear 'Six To Go', seems a weird way to finish an album

i disagree, i think it sounds happy & promissing. unless i'm wrong, it's about the guilford 4 being released, "6 to go" referring to the birmingham 6.

Or, you know, the six northern counties.
