Zuzana: Which age appears twice? My copy seems to be ok. I did however notice that The Wake Of The Medusa is titled The Wake Of The Mudusa on my copy.

Page 5/6 + 11/12 (while 3/4 + 13/14 is missing). And yeah, "Mudusa" on my copy too. Perhaps Medusa with a special affection for mud... ;)

Nearly certain. The Internet seems to agree with me:

http://www.google.com/search?q=mudusa == 1,770 maches
http://www.google.com/search?q=medusa == 2,130,000 maches, including this definition:<blockquote><blockquote type=cite>medusa

n 1: (Greek mythology) a woman transformed into a Gorgon by Athena; she was slain by Perseus [syn: Medusa] 2: any of numerous usually marine and free-swimming coelenterates that constitute the sexually reproductive forms of hydrozoans and scyphozoans [syn: jellyfish, medusan] 3: one of two forms that coelenterates take: is the free-swimming sexual stage in the life cycle of a coelenterate and has a gelatinous umbrella-shaped body and tentacles</blockquote></blockquote>Also entertaining is to note that this site (<i>"The Pogues: In the wake of the Medusa"</i>) is the sixth listed site for a Google query on "Medusa." That's just silly.

I'm a sad, conservative old man. Change scares me.

Strange... when I finally bought the CD (I've had the vinyl ever since it was released), there were two copies of the booklet... :?

Stick with it, DzM!! It has to be Medusa. For the story behind the lyric, try this link: http://www.historyhouse.com/in_history/medusa/

Thank you Firehazard. I am already quite familiar with Medusa though.

I also contributed quite a bit to the discussion of it on the poguetry site.

I realised that you'd know about it, DzM, and should have remembered that you'd contributed to the section on http://www.poguetry.com. Which is, of course, a great place to look for info on more or less anything. :)

It is indeed. I often times enjoy just browsing through the discussions of the songs. I wish Fran was able to dig more into the stanzas that he leaves out.

In fact - I enjoy those conversations so much that I'd love to see them happen here. With Fran! Please encourage him to come here and discuss these things with us. Tell him that we're all very insightful and rarely delve into such droll topics as what English phrases sound the most dirty when taken out of context.
