Does anyone know anything about these?
Were they official releases or bootlegs?

They were underground releases (the postcards into which the record grooves were pressed camouflaged their purpose) made soon before the fall of Communism in Eastern Europe. Like the Russian flexi-discs that appeared around the same time, they were extracted from an incredibly wide range of sources, from old Nips tracks to Pogues bootlegs to official Pogues releases. Without exception, they sounded absolutely dreadful and, of course, royalties were never paid on them, but somehow, this did not seem such a priority in the circumstances. I have most of the Polish postcards and a few Russian flexis which I kept as artefacts of a major historical change in which the Pogues' music played a tiny, tiny part. The lo-fi yearning of the Russian flexi of "Thousands Are Sailing" has always brought a lump to my throat, so I don't play it much.

Does anyone have any photos/scans of these things? Would love to see them.

Also does anyone know how many were made? I've never seen any for sale - I'm guessing they were made in small quantities? I suppose many of them may have perished by now?
