Top Ten / Malcolm Maclaren Album

Post Thu Apr 12, 2007 12:42 pm

Philip

It would be really cool to know what your top ten Pogues songs were?

Also did the Pogues contribute a track to an album devised by Malcolm Maclaren themed around Christmas, I guess this may have been FTONY but would be interested to know if it was another track that does not appear anywhere else.

Cheers

I have read that Philip is rather fond of Bottle of Smoke, but don't quote me on that one.

This may be "The Ghosts Of Oxford Street", a TV programme narrated by McLaren, which included Fairytale Of New York (along with The Happy Mondays' rather unique cover version or Staying Alive).

If I could answer that, I would, but I can't. "Bottle Of Smoke" and "Body Of An American" and "Sickbed of Cuchulainn" would be in there somewhere.

It's not false modesty. I love that tune, love singing it. But my objective perspective on it died about 20 years ago.

You'll have to trust us on it, then.  It's my absolute favourite Pogues song.

I'd have to say its a fairly even tie between Boys from the county hell, Sea shanty, Boat train, and Down in the ground where the dead men go
