My copy says the same. No idea what this means.

By the way, the second edition (then under the name of The Pogues") says "Thanks John".

Sublime messages on Pogues records ? I wonder what we´d get if we heard the songs backwards.

Guess that was a bit of sharing an idea...Stiff records had been leaving "scratch messages" on all of their vinyl from the start,I do believe.

Thanks to everybody.

Just say that the side b of this single "waltzing matilda" is a little bit different (sounds different) than the one published on "rum sodomy & the lash" i like that first "version" more than the one in the LP

Does anyone know whether any copies of Dark Streets had a picture sleeve? Mine- and the others I have seen- have been in a plain black cover.

It never had a picture sleeve, though the Stiff issue was a sort of picture label. Early pre-Stiff editions had special stickers. Apparently one sticker is more rare than the other or something!

It's been a long time, but the last time I saw an original issue of the 7" (with a plain white label and the Pogues tattoo) on eBay, it went for $357.
That was several years ago.

Anyone here buy it?

I have the record with the the harp label and the old woman label.. supposedly less then 10 were made with the old woman label but I am not sure.. The Pogues tattoo is from a different 7" - the French Dirty Old Town included an anchor tattoo when it originally came out. Some years ago the tattoo was selling for around $50 US by itself. I haven't seen one for sale in ages.

There has always been a grey area about how many of the original "Dark Streets" were pressed up and whether the pressing continued in a limited way after the record was licensed to Stiff. So all "valuations" of the original single can only really be determined by the most recent high price on Auction sites.

Its a bonus track on the re-issue of "Red Roses for me" I believe and its also about half as long as the one on RSL.
