Rabinga

Anyone have any info on the song Rabinga from the Straight to Hell soundtrack? If I remember right the credits on the cassette said it was (traditional) but then again it's been years since I've seen the cassette case. I recorded my own version using my Kawai midi keyboard back around 1992, it came out pretty good.

So who wrote this song? If not the Pogues, then does anyone know where I can find another version?

I am the guilty party, though the title was provided by Del Zamora who acted in the movie and who sings (or at least proclaims) the lyrics

Were you inspired by the film itself, or was this a tune that had been hanging around in your head for some time ?

I wrote it on the Straight To Hell set on a cheap Spanish 12-string guitar I bought in Almeria to amuse myself when not acting my heart out, drinking Vino Tinto by the gallon or slowly going crazy in the noon desert sun. In fact, that's the predominant instrument on the recording.

Oh! I always thought that was Terry playing his cittern...not that I wouldn't think you could play a melody on a Spanish guitar.

Were all of the band involved in the recording ? I´ve just looked up the booklet of "Straight to hell returns" and it just says "The Pogues featuring Del Zamora". Am I right in thinking that at least Shane wasn´t involved in it ?

The Straight To Hell music was mostly made by Jem, Andrew, James and myself, with periodic contributions from Shane ("Fall From Grace", "Rake At The Gates" etc), Cait, Darryl and Spider. I don't recall Terry was around for much of it.
