The Pogues Choir

So I was reading through the liner notes of IISFFGWG (not the reissue) and I saw that there were two rather unusual people in this choir: the man from the indian take-away and Brian Sheridan from the Offlicense. Did they really sing?? And were they really strangers? Did they receive any royalties

Well, if they were strangers when we began the album at RAK, they certainly were not a few days in. It is customary in the studio when you need a mob to do something on a record, that you round up all available studio visitors. They probably sang on "Fiesta" or something. In this manner, I myself (along with producer Tony Visconti, Radiators drummer Jimmy Crashe and Thin Lizzy manager Chris O'Donnell) provided handclaps on a posthumously-completed Marc Bolan album in 1978! Payment is rarely offered or expected on these occasions.

........and indeed, you will struggle to find me credited on the Marc Bolan album.

Though I'd hazard a guess there a quite a few people off this forum who are currently rushing out to buy said album!!
