Waxies' Dargle - Bass Tab

Post Fri Feb 23, 2007 4:52 pm

I'm in a pickle, and thought this'd be the ideal place to seek help.

I play upright bass in an Irish(ish) band(ish), who have decided to add Waxies' Dargle to our repertoire, and i can't for the life of me figure out a bass line. Usually i'd make something up, but i'm stuck. I can't find bass tabs for it anywhere. I've listened to the recording over and over, and can barely hear the bass, so that isn't helping me a great deal, either.

So, anyone here know how it goes?

Cheers in advance,

~Grov

Work something around a simple polka vamp. Less is more on this one.

G D / C G / G D / G D/ G D/C G/ G D/ G G etc

(assuming you're playing it in G)

Ah! Less is more. I'm new to bass, from other instruments, and am still tending to overcomplicate things.

Thanks much for the prompt reply!

I found it sometimes works to look at chords played and then play notes of that names (of course, that bears some problems when you encounter dur and moll chords of same note - as that way, they won´t be different) - but this is really desperate I think and no really famous bass tracks will happen.

Or you can write down the notes and then play some sort of dominant notes - in some songs it is first note in the beat - or first note in every other beat etc. (it depends on tempo - for example, in 7/4, it will be every 7th...hell, I don´t know the word - I hope you know what I mean :-)).
