Like I said, maybe two discs of the best available would be great.Quality not quantity is what counts. The more useless stuff you put out the more expensive it will be.

How to make friends and influence people...

It may be only his opinion but it's a bit bloody rude...

Still, I expect the band can cope without his £30.

Well I'm sorry, Zuzana, but as one of the people accused of a lack of tolerance I totally disagree with you. Firstly, In my humble opinion, I don't believe Dermot was just posting his opinion. I think he was making a deliberatley provocative statement in a rude and aggresive manner, and it was designed to ellicit a strong response from people. And I think he got exactly the response he wanted.

Secondly, like many of the people who visit this forum, I happen to hold Mr Chevron in particularly high regard. He's a diamond geezer, who gives up a great deal of his free time to communicate with us here and keep us posted on future releases, tours, etc. In addition, we all know he's continued to do that throughout a particularly difficult time in his life. So when Dermot comes on the forum and warns Phil about making a 'horses arse' of things, and then tells him he has no right to make the final decision on the tracklist of a release Phil has been instrumental in compiling (while at the same time dictating what he thinks should be included!), well, yes, I find that pretty hard to tolerate.

Peace and Love.

I think it's obvious that Zuzana is not defending what he said. I think the point she made is that his opinion, even if not flattering, is as welcome as someone else's that would encourage a release with 100 discs including every single out-take. One doesn't have to be complimentary and devoted to post here. It is entirely up to the poster to make a horse's arse of their name.

Zuzana is also not telling you not to challenge his unpopular view (yep, that's a double-negative). By all means, challenge him. Resorting to name-calling is a really weak form of argument though. Surely we can do better?

Finally - Let's say Dermot is a troll, and that he's just fishing for a hostile reaction. Isn't encouraging people not to react with so much hostility the right thing to do? Feed the troll, get more trolls?

May I be the first to propose this...

If the mythical "new album" which the Pogues may or may not ever record, ever DOES see the light of day, then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can it be called, "Just look 'em in the eye and say... horse's arse!"

Of course, Dermot wouldn't buy it, but I reckon RICHB and I certainly would.
