They were bonus tracks on the original CD - clumsily inserted, in my opinion - but were not on the vinyl album which was still, in 1988, the principal format. On the remasters, they are positioned where they always should have been - at the end, when the album proper finishes. Something similar happens with "A Pistol For Paddy Garcia" on RS&TL. By Peace and Love, CDs had become the principal format, or at least equal with vinyl. In any event, apart from the opportunity to tidy up the running order on Fall From Grace, we certainly did not wish to presume that everyone who'd bought the vinyl album in 1988 had already replaced it with the CD version by 2004. As Medusa well illustrates, vinyl (and shellac) are still very much living formats.

You can take my vinyl copy of IISFFGWG (my first Pogues purchase) when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.

One could look at the cover of this album and dismiss the Pogues as yet another super cute boy band that the chicks would go nuts nuts for. Unlike N'Sync and New Kids, these guys can play their instruments really good. They don't dance near as well as the backsteet boys, but I don't think they care. How remastered are these releases?
Posted: Fri Sep 15, 2006 6:45 pmIf digital bits wore out I'd have had to buy a couple copies of these albums, so I'm not worried about the buying, but I am curious. The only thing I don't like about most of the Pogues recordings is that the volume is pretty compressed.
Do the new releases expand the range? Please?

Posted: Sun Sep 17, 2006 1:43 pmThe glory 'If I Should Fall From Grace With God' has lies partly in the finish the original album has, which is Worms. Imagining those bonus tracks put after Worms ruins that glorious ending to a very round, solid work. But that's just my opinion probably.

I'd love to hear that at Brixton this year. Same goes for Boys From County Hell. I don't understand why they left it out last year.
Rhino Red Roses Reissue (hows that for alliteration?)

Apart from the logos, repaired typos, missing credits etc, the Rhino issues are identical to the WSM editions.

I'm sorry I missed this one when it first went around...funniest review and forum postings i've read in a while. And P.C. is the dancing one! (The uncloseted dancing one!?)
