Which Pogues-song do you consider to be the easiest to play on an accoustic guitar?

most of the tabs i've seen don't use more than 5 chords. many use just 3. just get your G, D, C, and A chords down and you'll be able to play 60% of their songs fairly descently.


"down in the ground where the dead men go" is definately the easiest. so easy it's not even worth it. just two chords - one for the verses and one for the chorus. one of them is C and the other A minor. check it out at that one site in the links section of pogues.com.

the first thing i ever really learned on guitar was the first couple lines of "the irish rover" fingerpicking. that never gets old.

There used to be a songbook (notes for piano/guitar/vocals) with the songs from the "Best of" album. I don't know if it is availble anymore.

Hi there first-time poster here Happy New Year!

I am trying to learn If I Should Fall From Grace on the guitar. Have the chords memorized (using capo on 2nd fret), so now its time to play along to the song itself. Can I keep up? Can I bollocks! My right arm is killing me now and I am in serious danger of blinding myself with snapped strings. Does anyone know any tips on how to play so fast??

keep your wrist loose. A thinner pick also helps for playing fast i think.
But the man who should know the best answer to this question is Mr C. So you better wait for his reply

Anyone can do it if they want to badly enough. Fortunately, not everyone does, which means I get to keep my job.

Don't try to play along at speed. Just switching chords in time should be enough at first. As you grow more comfortable, you will find your own wrist action and, as a bonus, with a more relaxed style, you will stop breaking strings.

Even I sometimes cheat on this song when I think no one is looking (the instrumental bits between verses) so try a slightly easier song - Broad Majestic Shannon, say.

Pogues songs in general are some of the only ones I can sing along to whilst playing guitar. I do a pretty mean Tom Waits impression as well, but that tends to make people laugh
