I think fairytale is actually a more difficult song to play on guitar.

You can also quite easily play the melody line on a guitar.

for me it's hard to play constantly triplets like on Parting Glass, Bottle of Smoke, the end of Turkish Song of the Damned.
For me these are the hardest to play of the Pogues catalogue 8)

the pogues are what inspired me to start playing guitar. the first little riff i ever learned was the first couple measures of 'the irish rover' and i chose to learn chords in the order of how often they appear in pogues songs. :D

DavidPlan: Or, when you have troubles with speed, try switching pick for handplay. It may sound sort of strange and takes some time to perfect, but after time it works better imho.
It is very good if you´re classically educated - you have right feel from the beginning.
And if you´re playing an electric - you can simulate another strum by either hammering or by vibro.

There's a link at the bottom of some of those folkpunktabs to a better site. Think it's http://www.theinternetlol.com/pogues or something like that.

Cheers for that Paddy, I've been trying to get the dots or tabs for Repeal, so here's another pint I'll owe you in October. At this rate we'll have to have our own Oktoberfest...

Thanks Jan K ! Those are some great links. I just got through playing Hell's Ditch on the mandolin and it sounded greats. Just one of those songs I'd have trouble figuring out without tablature.

Anyone know where i can get accurate Piano sheet music for Pogues? In particular Fairytale of New York and Rainy Night In Soho. I've got a simplified version of the FONY sheet music in the house but I want to learn the full thing, especially the intro.
