I had similar issues with D O T, I'm mandoless and at work but I seem to recall having to repeat the fingering the 2-0 5-2 sections more than once, playing 5-2-0-2-0. I'm trying to remember what I was fingering the other night as I type
I wish I'd done biology for an urge within me wanted to do it then

Unfortunately i haven't picked up the instrument in a number of weeks. Got distracted by a tractor purchase.

They're both in BEST OF THE POGUES, the sheet music book. Or you should find them online.

James has answered this before for guitar chords:

FROM HIS POST:

I think these are the chords, but I can't be sure without having to go down to the cellar to get the guitar. I've been playing this song in Am rather than Cm because my voice (I've been singing it with the Cranky George Trio) is a bit more baritone than Spider's. I'm not attaching any value to the word 'baritone'.

intro
Am
E
Am
Am C Dm F

verse
Am E E Am Am Dm E
chorus
Dm Am E Am Dm Am E E E E

tune in the middle (and half of it at the beginning)

Am / / / / /

Am / / / / /

Am / / / / / / / / /

Dm / / / / / / / G /

E / / / / /

Am / / / / /

No sorry, you cops'll have to just throw rocks.

I'm not certain about this, but I believe Jem retunes the drone G string to A for this number too. I wasn't sure from your charts whether you had covered that or not.

Mr C,

thank's for your concern but i had noted to put capo's on the 2nd fret's including the 5th strg, which make's it the key of A. but i have edited it in capitals now for all to see.

well as i'm loged in, i hope i can ask you a few questions, firstly in the verse/quiet sections of poor paddy on the railway, do you guys play it with G, C and D?

secondly, when you see mr finer can you ask him what fret he capo's his banjo on body of an american, including the 5 strg? as i know it's up high on the fret board, but there's no clear video's to see it properly.

hopefully you will be able to answer my questions.

with thank's

Chords correct for "Poor Paddy", though the changes can be quite fluid, depending on where Shane is going with the vocal.

Again, not certain of this, but I have the feeling Jem does not capo the 5th string, but retunes it (live) for the song, which is why I questioned your chord chart for "Fall From Grace". I confess I never noticed he used a capo on "Body of a Yank", but I'll investigate when I see him next in July. Presumably, if he's using G shapes on the 5th fret (to give the result that he's playing in C), there would still be no need to capo the 5th string, as its open G would remain integral to the chords.
