That's impossible, surely...

Depends on how quickly he goes back to sleep (bludgeoned or otherwise).

this has been nagging me for a good while also..many possibilities running through me head..and agree about the idea of each of having our own personal meaning. ..but throwing it into the mix/when you google the ginger lady ye get (http://www.9isles.com/the_ginger_lady.html)

Legends of Polynesia
- The Ginger Lady

While hiking in the hills on Maui, her grandfather wandered about picking fruits and plants for their family.
The weather was very pleasant and refreshing. The mountains were green with life and the air was cool. It was a lovely day for hiking. It seemed that nothing could go wrong.
All of sudden, her grandfather said that he was hearing a lovely singing sound. Then he asked Caroline if she could smell the sweet ginger coming from the cliffs. He became intoxicated by the fragrance of the ginger and began walking toward the scent. Suddenly he saw a beautiful woman who was calling him. Her smile filled him with desire and entranced, he began to walk quickly toward the ginger Lady's welcoming outstretched arms.
But as soon as he touched her, the ginger Lady disappeared. He found himself at the edge of the cliff about to fall to his death. Caroline was holding him from falling. The sweet smell of ginger faded as Caroline said to her grandfather how close he had been to death.
Once at home, Caroline told her grandmother the story of what had happened. Her grandma explained that it was the "Ginger Lady" who claims the lives of innocent men.

The moral of this legend is that falling into temptation can lead to danger.

'She' is a bottle of whiskey. In fact the whole song is about a man's love of alcohol. The woman portrayed throughout the song is alcohol personified. Listen back and you will see what i mean

interesting take on it. i never saw it that way. the "measure of my dreams" bit fits better with an actual person to me, though. "talking in my head" as a hangover. booze as a partner. very interesting.

i like booze...
Lend me ten pounds, I'll buy you a drink.

I dont think its just about booze. There are comparissons in the song but its a love song written in Shanes clever little way (The use of the word measure as in a measure of whiskey for example). The ginger lady though I think is definately whiskey.

Surely the gingerlady is Mary, mother of Jesus?

Think it might be a bottle of whiskey but not really sure... :D

Tis an affectionate term for a drink, indeed.
Whiskey IS called by the light of its colour, but that is "Amber"...'

"Ginger lady"--u can probably guess now--is our dear, sweet lady,

'Gin'

cheers

My band has turned the above wedding story into a song, imaginatively entitled “Wedding Song”. You can hear it here https://www.mildantics.com/p/wedding-song.html

Sorry but we had to change the names!

Wow... that all seems a long, long time ago now, and reminds me it's time to get in touch with an old friend. Thanks for sharing the song 8)

Hi there. I like your answer. I don't sure about the Irish red setter but Guitar should be the correct one.
