Hey musicians--what key harmonica is required for Dirty Old Town.

Hi, Chef Chil - :) I'm not being cheeky - depends what key you're playing it in. If you mean what key is The Pogues' version in, I'd hazard a guess at a D harp. The Pogues modulate (I theeenk) up to E for the middle 8 and back down. That's the key I've always played it in. I'm not sure what key the Ewan MacColl original was in - it had a very funky clarinet solo in the recording I've heard.

I could be very, very wrong of course, and maybe Mr Chevron will be able to advise you better. :)

Uh, Yeah, dude. I did mean the Pogues version...

I play it on tin whistle in D so I guess it is D indeed.
