there is a cool version on the wolftones the troubles album, tho not in the same league as the pogues, i like it , its different

"Star of the County Down" will for me always belong to Fiddler's Green. The singer has an amazing voice, which suits this song perfectly.

Though the Pogues version is more likely to fit at a party (or live) and that's important too ;-)

There are some decent tones tracks but i know what you mean i saw them in new york in march and they do go on a bit about the "troubles"

I saw them live about a year ago and know what you mean. It struck me that they were very much a part of Ireland's past, but hopefully not it's future. I much prefer bands like The Dubliners who sing some songs remembering our past, but don't spend a whole show going on and on about nothing but the Troubles. In my opinion, bands like The Dubliners unite people, whilst The Wolfe Tones divide them.
