We should inform the world. I think there are more people waiting for him out there...

Good, I was going to suggest Rain Street. With one clap at least...

The cultural importance of handclaps should not be underestimated.

Anyone who has been on a northern soul dancefloor when Jackie Wilson's I Get the Sweetest Feeling has been played would know what I mean. If you've never been there, have a listen and see if you can work out where those two handclaps would go. Then think how it would be with 1500 people on those claps. :D

I've always thought of the banging during The Wild Rover as being stamping of the feet, or hitting of the hand on any adjacent hard object, rather than actual handclaps. I know that's what I do. :)

in the old days, in London, when the pogues went off between encores and after the last encore, the crowd would sing the Wild Rover without fail ... it was part of the ritual

If you mean Sally MacLennane it's definitely four times, go and listen to it.

Yup...
"We walked him to the station in the rain *-*-*-*
An' we kissed him as we put him on the train..etc."

One of my favourite percussive wee Poguesy riffs....
