How could your top three not be the Pogues first three albums?

Simply - I am not astonished by most of Shane´s lyrics work - I like his songwriting and his voice - both got, in my opinion, better with time. Sound evolved, Terry and Philip helped a lot. I prefer Darryl over Cait too.

Earlier songs are too simple to me, compared to later work.

But you'll stick your head back out and shout

Your guys thoughts, I know the opinions on this topic will vary.

1. A tie between IISFFGWG, RSATL, and RRFM
2. Hell's Ditch
3. Peace and Love
4. The rest, in no particular order

My opinion too. I can never decide which I like best.

Well I read this last night and just couldn't decide so today I went about it mathematically. I went through each lp and wrote down my absolute faves and ended up with:

If I Shoud Fall: 9 tunes
Rum: 5 tunes
Red Roses: 4 tunes
Peace and Love: 4 tunes
Hells Ditch: 4 tunes

So I guess that says it all really!

Other notables that were not on the original albums and are on my all time fave lists:

Body Of An American
Rainy Night in Soho
Danny Boy
Repeal (still my fave instrumental)
Muirshin Durkin
Leaving of Liverpool
Planxty Noel Hill

1.IF I Should Fall From Grace
2.Rum, Sodomy And The Lash
3. Red Roses For Me
4. Hell's Ditch (not even close to the first three)

The rest I consider shite.

The live disc from Brixton is astounding.

Do you even think 'Peace and Love' is "shite"?

I can enjoy White City and Misty Morning Albert Bridge, but the rest is poxy. I realize it's all about context. It's a small complaint, due to the greatness of the first three records. The only artists to make such great back to back to back albums are Dylan and Radiohead.

Dylan: Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61, and Blonde On Blonde
Radiohead: The Bends, OK Computer and Kid A

Dylan, The Pogues and Radiohead came back to reality after their unusual bursts of grace from the muse. With Peace and Love, the Pogues fell a lot farther (no pun intended).

You think Peace and Love is shite, seriously retract that statement. Come on how could you not love White City, Young Ned of the Hill, Misty Morning, Albert Bridge, Boat Train, Gartloney Rats, Down All the Days, and London You're a Lady. They rank as some of the Pogues best songs.
