Rereleased Pogues Album in green vinyl?

Post Mon Jan 16, 2006 8:25 am

Hi! sOORY; I´m not really an expert about the Pogues, but I like thier music. A few days ago, I was in a 2nd hand-record-store and saw the album "Rum Sodmy & the Lash" there in green vinyl. I remember that it was in normal black vinyl. Is the green one a reissue or something special?

Any help is welcome! :D

I saw this in the discography-section, but that answer my question if the LP in green vinyl is a reissue or was it back then in 1985 already released in green vinyl? Perhaps then as a "special edition" or something like that?

Hmm, I think it was released at the same time in the different formats, but I'm not sure. Someone else will probably know better than me...

I have "Red Roses..." on green vinyl, and it's a thing of beauty. :)

Ok thank you! Is this more rare than the album in black vinyl? Is it a collector´s item?

The green vinyl version would be more rare than the black vinyl, I'm sure. I bought all the albums on black vinyl originally back in the day, but if I saw the other versions (green, purple etc.) now I'd be very tempted to get them.

So does that make it a collector's item? Depends on the collector, I guess. Don't know how much it would be worth... I wouldn't want to sell such things on.

I´m asking because I want to buy this album and want the original one. So if the black one was the first release I would buy this one but if the green one is a limited editon I ´ll buy this.

This website lists the album's release in 1985 in a number of countries and colors!

If you are still in doubt, look for the catalogue and release number.

Now loss of vinyl always troubles me, but that is really sad, Roddy. Commiserations.

Ralf: Good luck with the purchase. As a matter of interest, what price was the shop asking for the green vinyl?

If I remeber right, the price was 4 Euros, which is about 2,74 British pounds.
