What's the story about different versions of this song?
I have the CD of just the EP and it's diff from the newer Rum Sodomy CD. The newer CD version has more horns and the older has more whistle. Are they just different mixes with the same vocals?

I agree robertc. I have the first two CDs of that Pogues "B-sides and rarities" series (I think there are eight in all.), and the version of "Rainy Night in Soho" on the first one definitely has the whistle much more prominent in the mix than the RS&L reissue. The Hell's Ditch reissue has the Steve Lillywhite remix, which is more polished still. I haven't spun the Poguetry in Motion EP in a while, but I imagine the version on my B-sides and rarities CD is the one on the record, or at least the closest approximation of it.
