There's no real surprise there, the charts have alwasy been dominated by shite. It is full of music that is marketed towards the CD and pay-for-download market which is mainly young girls. A chart indicating the real musical taste of the nation would have to take into account illegally bought CDs and peer to peer network downloads. That will never happen of course.

It may seem all hope is lost of Fairytale reaching number one, but come on everyone! I knw its stupid to ask you to go out and buy thousands of the FONY single, but I'm spending every spare penny I havew on buying the single and giving them out as presents. if we can't get it to number one, at least let it top that bloody JCB song from number two - everyone Knows Fairytale deserves the number one - perhaps The Pogues could re-release it again in the future or something - I don't know its just such a good cause.

Come on eveyone - get out on christmas eve and spread the word and buy a few more copies of the single for mates and neighbours.

Well which of these songs do you think will be remembered in 5 years time? Or next year? Fairytale Of New York was atleast not beaten by the damn crazy frog.

Bah. Lets hope those figures are wrong. Who in the hell buys Crazy Frog? 14k + people it seems. Madness! At least our boys beat Westlife. And The Pogues at #3 in the charts, who'da thunk it a few months ago? I'm still angry though. lol

I wanted to sell FONY in my shop but didn't as only the High Street stores like Woolies and HMV's sales counted towards the chart position.

I decided to start my own campaign by buying the single and putting it on my counter with a Post-It note stuck on it saying "The Perfect Present -Available from Woolworths Next Door".

Must've had some effect as someone from Woolies came in and said they'd sold out and "please don't send anyone else in" ! :)
