Ah, my memory doesn't stretch that far I'm afraid. In order to answer your question I would have to look at the video again. And that would just be wrong.

Yesterday. Me and Keith Richards decided it, and we put it to the boys. Charlie wasn't too happy, but he never is.

Charlie is always happy. Totally happy. He just never gives it away.

I've been hearing The Stones version a lot on the radio the last couple of days and I'm starting to like it better than the Pogues one.

Honky Tonk Woman

Post Mon Feb 12, 2007 9:59 pm

I've always thought Honky Tonk Woman was a weak track (the Pogues version, I mean) but then yesterday I finally got round to watching a live DVD I have, a boot from Japan 1988, and Honky Tonk Woman is one of the encores... and, by God, it's absolutely bloody brilliant!! Unusually, Shane plays guitar on it too (a Telecaster unless I'm very much mistaken).

It's the first time I've sat down and watched the show all the way through and I couldn't believe how good HTW sounded live. Great stuff.

Honky Tonk Women

Just listened to it for the first time in years and it blew me away! Has to be one of the best non-Shane tracks, the band were on fire. Great start to the day, now watch it go downhill

You know, I dislike the Pogues cover of this song, but only in retrospect do I realize that's largely because I don't like the Stones version either. It has no lyrical substance and it's just generally kinda trite.

not sure if ive seen it. if its on poguevision then i just cant remember it

i'm gonna guess herer that - since it's a cover, and copyright is help outside of the pogues camp - it's non-inclusion is a rights-management issue. never had seen that video myself, good for a laugh. not my favourite pogues single (not a big fan of the original either), but a damn fine video!
