at least i think it's billy's bones... and only on the original, i can't think of it very clearly now, because there's a lot less of it on the re-issue. is it just an accidental fade out sort of thing...

i'm talking about the accordion swell... in the very final closing seconds. it reminds me of something else. and it's been bugging the crap out of me... good sounding chord, though.

I remember talking to Shane about putting some hymn tune at the end of Billy's Bones - Abide With Me or something, but I couldn't be sure (I should listen to the end of it to see if I can remember what it was but all my records are downstairs and I'm just lazy). So, last day of recording or something, I put the hymn tune on, (on organ, actually, and not accordion, if that's what you mean) to have it removed in mastering by someone who knew better. It was dismaying, I remember, to have it swiped out right at the end and in a rather savage and unlovely sort of way too. Ho hum.

they left just enough to tease me, and probably more intensely...you. i liked where it was going, though. music always teases me, in general. there's always the perfect chord that i need to hear next, and sometimes the artist does it. and sometimes they don't. that was my chord!

you always hear stories like that...something pure that's hacked and edited and chopped and augmented by someone who thinks they know better than you.
