BBC Newsnight just closed the show with FONY and Kirsty said it’s been re-released for Christmas

Looks as though Fairytale reached No. 3. Failed to beat Nizlopi (No. 2) and Shayne Ward (No. 1).

A good effort, nevertheless. I hope the proceeds met the target goal for the Justice for Kirsty campaign.

Post Thu Dec 29, 2005 12:57 pm

ONE OF THE REASONS IT DID NOT REACH NO:1 IS BECAUSE THE SHOPS DID NOT STOCK ENOUGH,IN MOST OF THE TOWNS PEOPLE COULD NOT BUY IT!
STOCKS WHERE VERY LOW

Yes i think it was set up for that Shayne Ward to get to number1.
Cause all the singles i saw was right, right at the back of shops yet his was near the door.
Also at my local HMV shop where me and Alex got 4 copies. It was only later that day, that we noticed the label on the single.James Blunt Goodbye My Lover.

We were comprehensively and legitimately outsold by both XFactor and Niplozti (sp?) but does it matter? A Fairytale is for life, not just for Christmas.

You mean you ended up buying Blunt by mistake??? That's an appalling piece of luck.

No,the label printen on the FONY single was James Cunt...sorry Blunt.
and the receipt said the same.
So i dont know how they count the sales.Does that go throught to sells chart or does HMV order in so many and back count how many that was'nt sold?

Phew, that's not quite so bad. Just imagine thinking you were about to listen to the Pogues and got Blunt instead.
But still it's annoying to think your purchase got counted as one of his...
I should destroy the receipt quickly if I were you before anyone sees it and questions your musical taste...

Well now, that is interesting. That's where we went wrong. we should have had every Nizplotzi and XFactor single pressed with FoNY labels.

If your receipt said you bought James Blunt, it was reading that from the barcode, and the barcode is the same source the charts are compiled from.

I DEMAND A RECOUNT

This happens here in the States (I won't mention the name of the national store). Check your receipts before you leave the store... One reason we won't buy from the chains any more. Our local indy store carries everything we want, or can get it for us.
