"when i got back to my empty room, i suppose i must have cried"

or

"take my hand, and dry you're tears babe"

or

"Stay on the other side of the road, coz you can never tell ..."

SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM, THAT'S SUCH AN IMPOSSIBLE QUESTION TO ANSWER! :D

One of My favorite lines is "They took you up to midnight mass and left you in the lurch, so you dropped a button in the plate and spewed up in the church" A great line from an excellent song! :D

so many it vary from day to day

may the ghosts that howled
round the house at night
never keep you from your sleep
may they all sleep tight down in hell tonight
or where ever they may be

if you name me a street
then i'll name you a bar
and i'll walk right through hell
just to buy you a jar

death will follow anywhere until it's found its plan
then he laughed and waved goodbye and said
stay lucky when you can

Not exactly Pogues’ but only Shane’s... and not exactly the most beautiful line, but definitely the most handy for being used in everyday (esp. professional) life

„...I was alone in the wilderness...“ providing a precise description of the oh-so-frequent situation, and „... gimme a jar, a mighty, mighty jar!“ immediately offering the most effective solution.

What? I've enver heard those lyrics.

Here's the three verses in the song:

I love you baby since we were at school
I didn't show it I was a fool
You were burning I was cold as ice
And baby now I realize
Oh yeah

[chorus]

I gave you misery I gave you lies
I never hurt you, apologize
I love your lips I love your eyes
I love your breasts I love your thighs

[chorus]

Now all I can do is hope and pray
That you'll forgive me before it's too late
There's only one thing I can say to you
You know I love you you know it's true
Oh yeah

Is is possible that you've mis-heard the last two lines from the second verse?
