I love the 1 from

'Misty Morning, Albert Bridge'
'your eyes blue as the ocean, smiling at me'

'Fairytale Of New York'
'You Sumbag you maggot you cheap lousy faggot'

'A Rainy Night In Soho'
Covered in a clock of silence, I'd hear you talkin in my head'

'Birmingham six'
and filth got promotion, and there still doing time for be irish, in the wrong place and at the wrong time

+ many others from 'thousands r sailing' and 'a pair of brown eyes'
we would just be hear all night.

While the lyric is lovely and poetic, I can't take it seriously. The pop culture tapestry of my childhood replaces it with The Cone of Silence from Get Smart.

"What?"

Not so much the line, but the way Shane sings this line on the last chorus when the Music stops for just a brief moment - 'The Bells Are Ringing out For Christmas Day' always sends Tingles up my arms - just beautiful.
The Boy's of the NYPD choir Were Singing Galway Bay, and The Bells were Ringing out for Christmas Day.

Definitely the complete chorus from Rainy Night in Soho

I'm not singing for the future
I'm not dreaming of the past
I'm not talking of the first times
Never think about the last

Great lyrics that is

"arse over tits" ...that alone.

"oh no me dearest polly
this thing can never be
for i've a wife already
children i have 3
2 wives are allowed in the army
but one's too may for me"

i'm not thinking beautiful poetry at the moment, but those are good lines.

The best overall lyric, "Rainy Night" apart, is "The Bottle Of Smoke".

There are so many good lycrics to choose from. But one line has always been stuck in my head, perhaps not because it is so "great".
