POGUES 30 / STRUMMER/POGUES

Post Wed Sep 11, 2013 10:54 am

And there's more.....

We will shortly announce new editions of Red Roses For Me and Peace and Love consisting of entirely remixed versions of both albums. They are exclusively available in a new box set, released October this year, called POGUES 30 which contains all our studio albums in facsimile editions plus a previously unreleased live album of the Pogues featuring Joe Strummer at the London Forum in December 1991.

Transmission ends

Would the live disc be available apart from the box?

Sounds good. I was at the forum gig, remember it more than most others.

Philip, with the remixed albums, does this mean that they have been mixed to sound better but still as originally intended or that a producer has deconstructed them and remixed them to sound different?

Oooo. Finally, a clean version of Strummer/Pogues version of Straight to Hell. I'll just have to pretend this recording is from the Warfield in October '92.

Sorry for more questions Philip but why RRFM & P&L for remixing and why remix again when they were remixed for the expanded versions already?

Joe Live though...........Yee Haaaa.

Never forget him doing Hell's Ditch with his back to the crowd for the intro and all you Pogues around him in a semi circle. The intro building and getting faster to a climax when turns to the audience........

The two albums were not remixed, they were remastered.

True, but it still raises the question as to why those two? Red Roses I can kind of understand, first albums are often unsatisfactory in terms of sound quality, although I thought the 2004 remaster improved the sound immeasurably. Why Peace & Love though, presumably the band weren't/aren't happy with the original mix?

Will the Strummer/Pogues album be a single disc, i.e. not the full show? And is it the same Town & Country gig the previous live tracks with Joe are from?

And while I'm on, just found Phil's version of Faithful Departed on iTunes (from the Captains & the Kings single). Always wanted that version, fuckin' awesome! If you haven't already got it, buy it!

Thanks for the heads-up. Just downloaded it from Mr Amazon's Emporium, and it's playing on repeat. Brilliant stuff. 8)
