A bus reg, yes But.

... 30:30 is in the tradition of pop art rock'n'roll sleeves alive with reference and symbol ... Sgt Pepper style, sorta, kinda, maybe, perhaps ... perhaps not.

Anyway, the Paul Is Dead conspiracy theory of late '60s looked for clues that McCartney had perished in a (real) car crash he had in 1967, which was mysteriously followed by a Paul McCartney lookalike contest ...

One of the cryptic clues is the registration of the VW on the cover of Abbey Rd ...

"A Volkswagon has a license plate that says "28 if", meaning, Paul would be 28 if he were alive. John is dressed in white, as the preacher. Ringo is dressed as pallbearer, Paul, who is out of step, barefoot, and holding a cigarette in his right hand when he is a left hander, is the corpse. And George is dressed like the grave digger."

That the Beatles intended none of this probably means we shouldn't stare too hard at the Pogues big red bus ... It's just a bus 8)

HOWEVER,

if you ask me ...

the message is So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye to the fans

the band are all aboard (shown by their picture on the bus) kicking back and reflecting on their (30) greatest moments and a 30 year career ... Most noticeably the bus is heading away from the viewer, not towards (they're saying goodbye). And the bus is not in London or heading there - it's nowhere near Kings Cross, though that's where it's been.

So, Shane & Co have broken loose and are finally leaving behind the Big Smokes and London songs and the place where they began, and are heading out to pasture, to the Elysium Fields, to Pogues Valhalla.(And bequeathing us a last hand picked Best - Of cd) Is that what you're telling us Mr C?

Please don't get the wrong impression (no honestly please don't), but another re-packaged greatest hits???
Ok the track listing from others is slightly different and the inclusion of videos is a nice touch but haven't the record companies yet had their fair share of exploiting the groups back catalogue.
Trust me I'm a massive fan of The Pogues throughout all of their long and successful career however???
Phil there are some great tracks on there, but....

Nowt to do with me mate. The record company decides to do a comp, we have two choices. Ignore it and resent the track listing for decades thereafter, or get involved and at least have some say in the final package. What we don't get to choose is whether or NOT there's a new compilation. But business being what it is, it does seem extremely unlikely that the record company are not responding to some kind of market demand. You just have to figure, correctly, I think, that you are not personally perceived to be part of that market. And now that record stores are all but a thing of the past, do I know more about marketing Pogues music than Mr Rhino and the Brothers Warner? No, I do not.

more the merrier far as im concerned. As Phil says the market is not aimed at most members here but on either people who dont have the tracks or for fans who collect absolutely everything. Obviously for real collecters this should be great news as its errrr well something new to collect
