Well - We know that during that time frame James knew how to work with a bow-based instrument. He played the cello for Worms.

Is it too much of a stretch to guess that he also played fiddle on the Straight To Hell IISFFGWG?

Yes, James is known for his interest in "bow-based" instruments like http://www.bowmore.com and http://www.greensbeverages.com/strongbow.html

:D :D :D

Only joking, I just think there is a big difference between the fast fiddle on "Straight to hell" and worms. If it is James i am really impressed. Most of all I am just qurious who plays it.

Henry also scraped up a storm on "Dirty Old Town". If anyone knows where he is these days, please say Hi from The Pogues!

No cello on Worms. It's all accordion (and shoe-leather). Not me on IISFFGWG. Benagh. There's some fiddle I played here and there on maybe the first couple of records, can't remember which songs, and then something I hoped was the musical equivalent of gag-reflex on 'Sid and Nancy'.

You're breaking my heart here.

Sadly I base my comment on yours and Andrew's performance on the Live at the Town & Country show. Now I admit I haven't watched this in a long, long time but I'd swear I remember you dragging a cello/standup bass thinger out onto stage and sawing at it with a bow while Andrew sings.

Mr Fearnley did you play the fiddle on Transmetropolitan? I always swore I heard one on that song buried in the mix.
