Different feelings evoked for each album

Post Tue Aug 30, 2005 11:01 pm

This is probably just my lunacy, but for each album release, or at least the first five, I get an entirely different feeling. Red Roses For Me entirely brings about the "dear dirty delightful drunken old days" feeling. I can see myself stumbling in London town on an overcast, rainy day humming the tunes.

RSL has an overwhelming sentiment of depression, from Sickbed to Matilda. Every song on the album is saddening. Whereas Red Roses for Me would be more of a giddy drunkeness with friends, RSL resembles a lonely man drinking himself to death.

I get various feelings from If I Should Fall, but most of all is... I don't know, love? This requires more though, I think.

Peace and Love seems to give off a vibe of anger and hate, which corresponds perfectly with the album title.

And finally, Hell's Ditch has that worldly feel of course, but it is more of sitting back with a beer and watching the world go by type of feeling.

None of that made any sense, I am sure. Anyone else even remotely get the same feelings?

For Hell's Ditch, I'd say this is more of a calm and relaxing feel. Yeah, this is their most relaxing album.

I think every album to date, and what keeps fans coming back, has been that they maintain the balance between the raucous punk rock and the sensitivity of the ballads. Takes you through the whole spectrum of human emotion.     :( :? :D

...and the truly prolific genius of the lyricist of course.
