Phillip, was Terry altering his insturmentation (never noticed him play a godin before) because you were recording?

On that note, generally do you folks approach arrangements or instrument choices differently when planning to record?

I believe TW has been limiting himself to the bouzouki and Godin mandolin as his preferred stage weapons for some time now.

As much as it is not a sexy instrument to look at, that Godin sounds great. Your sound engineers must be thrilled at the decision.

Has anyone else tried to work out which songs were from which night on the DVD?

FONY is from the second night or Shane's vocal was edited to correct the late start on his line "you're pretty, queen of New York City" on the first night.

I think "Thousands" is also from the second night and maybe one or two others. We just liked the sound better on the first show.

Godins are beloved of sound engineers in general. Although I only usually use my Godin electro-acoustic guitar on one song ("Sunnyside of the Street"), if Paul Scully had his way, I would use it all through the show at the expense of my super-duper state of the art Martin dreadnought, but I prefer the feel of the Martin onstage.

Paris opening

Philip, before you guys came out on the first night, a guy started sininging Dirty Old Town and it became a huge singalong. It would have been perfect for an intro on the DVD, but was probably not filmed, as I can imagine the cameras were not turned on yet. Just commenting on the banter over using the Clash Straight to hell as an opener. Wonderful DVD, we normally pick one song from it on You Tube and watch it here at the office every day. Rock on!

Finally got round to seeing this gig through the wonders of dvd.
All you guys were astonishing. Great set but, wouldnt of minded a few more off Hells Ditch-my favourite Pogues record!
And, no London youre a lady or USA?
Still, i guess its always going to be hard with so many great sonsgs to choose from.
Finally, if the Pogues hadnt drank, been english upper class awful song writers and had a penchant for morris dancing,
Would you have been Mumford and sons? :D

Anyone know when (or if) the non-import version of the box set will be available in the US? Thanks!

I think there Shane has a disappearing cigarette at one point, when there is a cut, but will have to watch again to find exactly where it was...

Just got a Digipak version of this from ebay. One cd and one DVD.
The cd is labeled CD1 but contains songs from both cds on the other releases. Thousands are sailing, Lullaby of London and a few others are left out.
Is this a official release? The artwork seems to be poorly printed.

CD setlist:
1. Streams Of Whiskey
2. If I Should Fall From Grace With God
3. The Broad Majestic Shannon
4. Greenland Whale Fisheries
5. A Pair Of Brown Eyes
6. Tuesday Morning
7. Kitty
8. The Sunnyside Of The Street
9. Repeal Of The Licensing Laws
10. Young Ned Of The Hill
11. Boys From The County Hell
12. Dirty Old Town
13. Bottle Of Smoke
14. The Sickbed Of Cuchulainn
15. Sally MacLennane
16. Rainy Night In Soho
17. Irish Rover, The
18. Star Of The County Down
19. Poor Paddy On The Railway
20. Fairytale Of New York

It doesn't sound very official to me. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Polydor in Paris has confirmed this is not an official release emanating from them and will be investigating further.
