Maybe you are right. I'd even go as far as to say "probably" right. But its a long way off. You, nor I, nor my kid will see any clear sign of that time coming about. But some day.

Like maybe when the aliens land. Or the super virus sweeps across the planet and wipes half of us out, and we obliterate each other in the resultant power vacuum..... then it might happen. Or maybe after the huge nuclear religious war in which tens of millions die and a race of South Asian mutants (from the fallout) emerge with some kind of super power/advantage. Or a Messiah comes and we all fall in line or die.

I've recently thought it could be written from the point of a suicide bomber.

One of the main grievences Islamic suicide bombers have is the western occupation of Islamic countries. Was actually a Tunisian guy who lives with some friends who first suggested this to me

it sounds very strange for me .. i dont know if this song has a big background or such things but it sounds a bit ... hm ... nationalistic

Among other things, the song is a response to the shameful attempt by the Australian government to sideline the Aboriginal presence and history during their "bicentennial" celebrations.

I just pulled out an old, dusty copy of Midnight Oil's "Diesel and Dust" Great music, and there is definitely a Pogue-ish feel to it. It has inspired me to do some more research into Australian politics.
