I have seen this done with albums on other bands forums, thought we could give it a go.
Below is the track listing for Red Roses for Me, all the tracks start off with ten points, each poster should add one point to their favourite and take one away from their least favourite track. Eventually tracks will get down to zero points and drop off the list, this will in time whittle the list down to reveal the one song that is the Medusan's fave.

True dat, it's such a strong album. The choices get even tougher when there are fewer track left to choose from, especially if your choice may mean that a track gets eliminated from the list.
Shall we say one entry per Medusan per day? Here's mine for today

Might be wrong but I think " Down in the ground..." should be 7, at this stage. Any way mine would be;
1.Transmetropolitan 11
2. Battle of brisbane 8
3.The auld triangle 10
4. Waxie's dargle 10
5.Boys from the county hell 10
6.Sea shanty 11
7. Dark streets of London 12
8. Streams of whiskey 14
9. Poor Paddy 10
10.Dingle regatta 8
11.Greenland whale fisheries 10
12. Down in the ground where the dead men go 6
13. Kitty 10.
Nothing at all against DITGWTDMG but on such a stellar album, it's not quite up there with some of the others for me. I'm surprised at the showing of the two instrumentals, both being fuckin' brilliant for me. They miss out on Shane's fantastic lyrics and singing I suppose. Good exercise this. I expect my favourite to be very near the top but the whole album is exceptional, especially for a debut this original. Nothing like it existed before and yet the Pogues came fully formed and realised from the get go.

We rehearsed "Down In The Ground Where The Dead Men Go" quite recently with a view to putting it into the show. Perhaps it's just as well that what seemed so simple back in 1983 somehow defeated us 27 years later. Interestingly enough, as an early fan, I always thought of "Down In The Ground" (or "Connemara, Let's Go!" as it was then) as a highlight live, the number that most revealed the scale of the band's ambition.

This is so hard. I love the album too much really to make a sensible choice. But I'm very partial to a bit of DITGWTDMG, and it's been stuck in my head since yesterday when I was wondering why it was sinking so quickly in this poll.
So on the assumption that I'm entitled to another pick today, and I hate to see it so unloved, I'm going to give it one (as it were). And knock one off SoW, just because.

Ideally we should just have the one vote, I think, to get a more accurate idea but what the hell. Even though I marked it down, DITGWTDMG is still a classic track for me. It's just with things like " Greenland..." and the beautiful " Kitty " either side of it, it falls short ever so slightly. I think as well it has something to do with the fact that I know only very few of the lyrics because on the original cassette I had it on, there was no lyric sheet. That was when I slaved over Shane's poetry and knew / know almost every word. Too much like hard work now though, to learn them. Great lines in there though, putrifying corpses and the like. No doubt live it was a riot alright.
Another thing that surprises me is how few, if any, have plumped for " Boys from...". Back in the day, just before I got into the band, I seem to remember it being a real favourite and already thought to be a classic. And it was a single as well. Maybe it hasn't aged as well as it might have. Or maybe we haven't had got enough votes yet.
