Testament to Shane's writing that so far, the four clear favourites are originals of his, with only "Kitty" running him close. I still think we shoud have stuck to one vote each to get a more accurate picture of the favourite and least favourite, if only out of curiosity. Surprised at the poor showing of BOB. For me, it's simplicity distills the band right down to their essence and is in some ways more true to the spirit of The Pogues than more " sophisitcated " tunes. But that's just me, as you know and we ain't goin' down that road again. With a writer of Shane's calibre in the band instrumentals will probably always fall down slightly, if only because of the competition and not any fault of the tracks themselves.

I like BOB, but in general, instrumentals (except for Metropolis) don't do as much for me as songs. So while I like everything on the album, my elimination votes have been going to that and Dingle Regatta first. If we included the CD bonus tracks, I probably would have eventually gave Repeal some minus votes (much as I enjoy it live).....(with bonus tracks, I would have given Muirshin Durkin plus votes).

I felt the same way but I don't think this would ever get finished if everyone only took one vote. On the other hand, I don't really have just one favorite. Plus so many others were doing it I figured I might as well at least vote twice.

Personally I don't think there are any bad songs on here and that is an inherent problem with this game. Even though I don't have a clear favorite song, it was much easier to pick the favorite than the least favorite. It is easier to identify yourself with songs with words; so it's easier to pick an instrumental as a least favorite if you have to pick one.
