Nah, unfortunately the same old thorny prick. :) But sold as a de-luxe edition for double price.

B) The initial step of the Pogues’ quest to conquer the whole of the earth. First we take Australia, then we take Asia... and then welcome to brave new Australasio-Euroamerican Poguempire of Afroantartica. ;)

(And yes, the tune at the end of SA is great - I keep hearing it even when I listen to other versions of the song. :))

Planxty Noel Hill - when I first bought it (on the Poguetry in Motion EP), the vinyl had a scratch on it, so the needle jumped annoyingly (ancient technology, eh?). But I've always loved the track.
But then I love the Pogues instrumentals in general - Wild Cats Of Kilkenny, Rocky Road To Dublin, Repeal Of The Licensing Laws are all among the top Pogues tracks. And then there's the glorious twiddly bits that get put into other tracks, which sometimes you can't quite work out what they are, but you love anyway. Like the bit at the end of South Australia, and the bit in the middle of Body Of An American. Oh yes, and what about the end of Turkish Song Of The Damned?
One of the great things about an instrumental, is if it gets into your head it can just wriggle about in there all day. :D

Anybody know what Australasia is?

A post on that link also calls it The Kerry Polka, which rings a bell - I'm pretty sure that's how Mr Woods always referred to it.

Actually, now you mention it, I think it sounds like a polka rhythm, doesn't it?

what... am i the only one who really digs gridlock, as an awesome and totally unpoguelioke album opener? It totally rocks, and whenever I play Peace and Love to someone who doesnt know it or the ppgues they are mislead into thinking i've thrown on some classic swing album >: )

My vote will have to go to either "Dingle Regatta," or "Wild Cats of Kilkenny." But that is a real tough question to answer, mainly because I love A Pistol For Paddy Garcia, The Battle March Medley, Shanne Bradley, Planxty Noel Hill, and Squid Out of Water, just as much as the first two that I named.
